Caraway or ‘Carum carvi’ is a biennial in the carrot family, usually used for its anise flavoured seeds but its leaves are similar to parsley.& can be added to salads or cooked in soups/stews, The root is consumed in some places, similar to parsnips. Sow from April-June, direct into growing site of well prepared soil in a sunny but sheltered spot. Thin to 15 cm apart. It flowers in its second year and grows up to 60cm tall.
