Aubergines need warm growing conditions so must be grown in a greenhouse or polytunnel.
Black Beauty is the most popular open-pollinated aubergine variety dating back to the 1800s.
It is early to ripen, oval shaped and grows about 12 cm long.
This is a very attractive, oval aubergine that is dark and glossy.
Height and spread: 60cm
Sow from January - March in seed trays in a propagator.
Pot on when about 5 cm high into 8cm pots and ensure they are kept warm.
Transplant to a grow bag or polytunnel border in late spring. Space about 60 cm apart and provide some support.
Feed as the fruits grow.
Expect about 3 - 5 fruits per plant.
